Caislin Hallows vs. Naiser Vale : This is a tale of two villages one of medieval, one of modern. While there is a mysterious fog that connects them where the water divides.

My oh my. It has been a long time since this forum has been active, but yet, I see some people still log in somewhat regularly, somewhat frequently, not to mention the occasional new member; so, I have been wondering: do people intend to resume roleplaying on Caislin Hallows?

If you want to revive this place, let me know (preferably by responding in this thread). As always, I am confident I can pull a trick or two from my sleeve.

Well, no offense, but it's not a trick I'll be performing for an audience of one.

Awe, you speak lightly. I'm confident in your skills. A linguistic master such as yourself should have no problems pulling a few rabbits out of a hat.

Dear dear Puppeteer,

However shall you pull off such a tricky little show? No matter, I am curious all the same and always willing to help out wherever I can. –Grins-

I have begun by sweeping everything under the carpet. I have a theory: there were just too many options and too many of us are indecisive. So, to test this hypothesis, I have removed everything and put in two options for roleplay "Single Scenes" and "Storylines". Simple, right?

If you want to do something quick, test the waters, or get to know the abilities of your fellow roleplayers, go for "Single Scenes". On the other hand, if you want something of a little more substance, post in "Storylines", which is primarily intended for roleplay that can span multiple settings but will be a progression of related events. "Storylines" will require more forethought and perhaps even some prior collaboration (Gasp!) between players.

Now, we're still going with progressive stories/characters, so, just because something happens in a "Single Scene" thread, doesn't mean it isn't something that won't be in the character's memory when they go to another thread.

Also, I ask that everyone make an effort to be courteous roleplayers. As far as I am concerned, this entails a few things. First, try to join other people's threads instead of just making your own. Second, try to only be in one thread at a time (depending on how many are available). Third, post frequently. Fourth, try to establish and stick to a posting order so that no one feels left out and everyone gets a chance to post.

Lastly, to help keep roleplay moving, I am enacting a new rule (something I picked up from another forum): A player that starts a thread must act as the moderator for that thread and is obligated to keep the thread moving as best they can. To do this, I am granting the moderating player the ability to "move along" the characters of absentee players. If a character has not posted for a week, in accordance to the established posting order, then the thread owner may temporarily take control of the other player's character (by posting on their own account either during their own post if they were next or by making another post beginning with a note that they are filling in for the other character) if there are others waiting to post (if it’s just the moderator and the other player, then the moderating player will just have to wait). On the second consecutive "fill-in" post, the moderating player is advised to have the absentee player’s character exit the thread.

Well, that’s it. Get moving, folks! Oh, and invite anyone you know to join!

The new layout looks good. A lot less choice and random places to hide threads....

Good one.
